West Jefferson Remembers is an online collection committed to interpreting and preserving the history of West Jefferson, while making it available to the public. This project focuses specifically on historically significant documents relating to the history of the town, from its establishment in 1830 to the present day.
- The town of "Jefferson" was founded in 1830 by the Reverend Isaac Jones.
- Wyandot Indians once lived in the area encompassed by West Jefferson.
- The town's formation coincided with the construction of the National Road (Route 40).
- West Jefferson is home to the "Roughriders."
- Since 1951, West Jefferson has hosted the Ox Roast, an annual festival over Labor Day weekend.
